WVU returns ahead of Boston trip

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Mountaineers will touch down and return to Morgantown from a successful trip in San Diego, California Monday afternoon.

5-seed WVU ransacked 12-seed Murray State 85-68 and 13-seed Marshall 94-71 en route to a berth in the Sweet 16, their eighth since 1998.

“We are just happy to keep playing,” Carter said. “This is March. This is what we came to do. We don’t just want to go to the Sweet 16. We want to win it all.”

The Mountaineers will face 1-seed Villanova Friday night. Tip is set for 7:27 p.m. from Boston, Massachussetts.

Villanova defeated 16-seed Radford 87-61 and 9-seed Alabama 81-58 in the opening rounds.

The Mountaineer Ticket Office will have a limited number of tickets available for West Virginia’s appearance, priced at $250 each, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 20 for WVU students.
