Fairmont fugitive captured in Michigan

DETROIT, Mi. — A fugitive wanted in Marion County for ramming a police cruiser is in custody of U.S. Marshals in Michigan.

Emmanuel “Manny” Gibson was identified Tuesday morning during a traffic stop in Detroit. Gibson was wanted by the Fairmont Police Department for distribution of cocaine, conspiracy, and fleeing from an officer.

Fairmont Police attempted to stop Gibson during a routine traffic stop July 12. Gibson is accused of speeding off, traveling in excess of 60 mph in a 25 mph zone, and hitting a Fairmont Police cruiser.

Gibson fled on foot to avoid capture. He’s accused of distributing cocaine in Fairmont on three additional dates: May 31, June 6, and June 20.

Gibson will appear in Michigan court before facing extradition to West Virginia. He may face additional charges there over items located in his vehicle during the arrest.
