Monongalia County man facing felony charge in Westover stabbing

WESTOVER, W.Va. — A Monongalia County man is facing a felony malicious wounding charge connected to a stabbing earlier this month in Westover.

Charles Calvin Ralston, 22, is accused of stabbing John Richie at an apartment on Holland Avenue in Westover on September 9.

Ralston and Richie were engaged in a fight over $20 and a cell phone when the stabbing occured, according to the criminal complaint.

A witness gave investigating officers a description of Ralston from a photograph on social media. Richie was treated at Ruby Memorial Hospital for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Morgantown Police located Ralston. He was then taken into custody by the Westover Police Department.

His bond is set at $25,000. If convicted, malicious wounding carries a sentence of not less than two years and no more than ten years.
