Morgantown High earns two spots in the Academic Showdown finals

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Two teams from Morgantown High School placed first and second in the West Virginia University (WVU) regional competition of the 2024 Academic Showdown in Morgantown Friday. Morgantown High School Team 2 tokk the first place honors and Morgantown High School Team 1 finished second.

The wins cement a spot for each team in the finale on April 23, 2024, at the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston.

The WVU contest was the second of seven regionals to be held across the state.

This year, 90 teams from 50 schools in 31 counties make up the Showdown competition field, an increase of 19 new teams over last year’s field. Students in grades 9 – 12 display their academic skills through rounds of questions based on math, history, sports, fine arts, pop culture and other content areas.
