Morgantown Loses to Steubenville 28-6 as Offense Struggles

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown High School fell 28-6 Friday night, marking a rough start to the 2017 football season.

In their first home game of the year, the Mohigans were defeated 28-6 by Ohio’s Steubenville High School. The Mohigans and Steubenville played a very competitive first half of football with the only scoring coming from an early first quarter touchdown pass from Steubenville Senior Javon Davis. The 6-0 score remained the same until the third quarter where a consistent Steubenville rushing attack eventually broke through a resilient Mohigan defense that eventually gave up 348 rushing yards in the game.

The only scoring from Morgantown came from a 49 yard touchdown screen pass from junior quarterback Aaron Alvarez to senior running back Javohn Moore that made the game 21-6 in the third quarter. The Mohigans now prepare for their first in-state match up of the season next week as they travel to face 0-2 Parkersburg South.
