Oakes out as interim head of Mon Health Medical Center

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Mon Health System announced that Chief Operating Officer Dottie Oaks is resigning from her interim position with Mon Health Medical Center.

A spokesperson released the following statement:

“Dottie Oakes announced she was leaving the position of Interim COO at Mon Health Medical Center. When she came out of retirement to join Mon Health last November, it was to serve in an interim capacity to assist the hospital during a transitional period.

At this time, leadership will continue by our Executive Leadership group while a search for a new CEO is underway. We are steadfast in our commitment and will continue providing the exceptional care and experience our patients and communities have come to rely on.”

Oakes was named the hospital’s COO in November, and she then became interim CEO following the leave of absence for President and CEO Darryl Duncan.

The Dominion Post reported in early February that Duncan was on a leave of absence from the organization.

28 physicians signed a letter Jan. 19 stating Duncan’s leadership style eroded employee morale and led to several high-profile resignations.
