Police Continue to Investigate Fatal Crashes

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Police are continuing to investigate two separate fatal crashes that occurred over the weekend.

West Virginia State Police is investigating an auto-pedestrian accident in Randolph County that occurred around 9:20 p.m. Friday.

A 31-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were walking along U.S. 250 near the Fast Break convenience store in Beverly, when a sport utility vehicle struck them in the roadway.

The woman was killed. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He has since been released.

A second fatality occurred Sunday afternoon in Harrison County, in a single vehicle wreck on U.S. 50 near Salem.

Authorities say a woman somehow lost control of her vehicle, hit the guard rail and went over an embankment. The accident happened around 1:30 p.m.

One child was taken to United Hospital Center for treatment of minor injuries. No other passengers were inside the vehicle.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
