Clarksbug man arrested following Lewis County pursuit

JANE LEW, W.Va. – Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies identified Michael Woodyard, 29, as the driver of a motorcycle on Park Avenue in Jane Lew because of recent interactions with him.

When deputies attempted to stop Woodyard he fled onto Court Street. The chase continued on I-79 southbound where Woodyard almost lost control of the motorcycle. At Exit 99 police were able to arrest him without incident.

Woodyard told police he fled because he had a handgun and methamphetamine in his possession.

Police recovered the handgun and 7.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Woodyard has been charged with possession of a controled substance with intent to deliver, fleeing with reckless indifference and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
