Fairmont woman killed in Ritchie County tanker crash

RITCHIE COUNTY, W.Va. – A Fairmont woman was killed in a tanker crash in Ritchie County Sunday on Route 50.

At 10:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a rollover transportation accident with injuries and entrapment in between the Bonds Creek Bridges.

Route 50 was closed most of the day while crews worked to get to the driver, Rosalynn Russell, 57, and the tanker truck 200-feet down the embankment.

The extensive resuce effort included a low-angle rope rescue.

Russell was hauling brine at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
