FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A Grant Town woman is facing child neglect charges after police say she drove a car with her children on the roof to teach them a lesson.
Cassie Gorbey, 37, told police she was waiting for a friend at the Country Club Motor Lodge Wednesday when her children climbed onto the roof of her 2011 Ford Escape. Gorbey told police she put the vehicle in reverse, drove in the parking lot as witnesses yelled at her to stop. Gorbey then put the vehicle into drive and parked.
When police arrived they found Gorbey and three children at the back of the building.
Gorbey told investigators from Child Protective Services she drove with two of the children on the roof after they climbed onto it to teach them how east easy it is to fall.
Gorbey now faces two counts of child neglect creating risk of injury and is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,012 bond.
